Queerbomb galvanized in 2011 as a direct response to dis-satisfaction with Austin Pride, which to this day still charges hundreds of dollars to community organizations to be part of the parade, to have outreach tables at the annual Pride Festival, charges the public $20-25 to enter, and sells tickets for the privilege of attending associated performances. Furthermore, in a misguided shot at appearing “family friendly” Austin Pride imposes a dress code which alienates a significant portion of our diverse and sex-healthy LGBTQIA communities.

Queerbomb is free for all, and is a glittering expression of our true selves!

Throwing Austin’s BEST (and only) FREE QUEER PRIDE CELEBRATION of the year is not cheap! Here are some of the annual expenses our $15,000 budget pays for:

  • Advertising
  • City permits and fees (City, APD, Fire Dept.)
  • DJ, PA System and Lighting
  • Insurance for the entire event
  • Press / posters, flyers, wheat-pasting materials
  • Security guards
  • Set up and strike crew
  • Stage for Rally
  • Supplies, materials and decorations
  • Tables for all non profit Outreach
  • Venue rental
  • Walkie Talkies for Rally and Procession
  • Wristbands for all underage participants

We need most of this up-front before we can even move forward! We can do it again, for the 8th year in a row, but ONLY WITH YOUR HELP!

Queerbomb 2017 is dropping on Austin TX on Saturday, June 3rd! This is our eighth year, and we’re holding it again at Fair Market, 1100 East 5th Street, starting with the rally at 7:00 PM. At 9, we pour out on the street and sashay down 6th to Congress, then back up 7th to Fair Market again. The celebration continues until about 2:00 AM with DJ dancing, assorted entertainers and alcohol service. There is NO CHARGE to attend the event, EVER, and the street Procession is open to all ages. Due to liquor on-site, the Rally and Celebration are 21+. Please see our website for full details: and join our Facebook page if you haven’t already:

Queerbomb Dallas is also coming back for their fourth year, on Saturday June 24th! See more here: and here:

Public Organizational Meetings are held every other week at The Q Austin, 2906 Medical Arts Street at 7:00 PM (that’s March 16, 30, April 13, 27, and May 11, 25). All you have to do is show up, and you become part of the Queerbomb Movement!

We’ve launched our March fundraiser on, an Indiegogo program. OMG we need your donations, and we need them SOON! Please – like and share our fundraising link here, and forward this email to everyone you know too! The truth is, we’re off to a late start and we still need to pay most of our bills up-front! We’ve done it 7 years in a row with your help, and we’re counting on you again! Whether you give $20, $50, $100 or more, everything helps! Yes, we gladly accept business donations, but understand that we do not make endorsements or promote businesses in other ways. We are happy to provide you with a receipt.

You know the routine: Like AND share this on your timeline. On your pages. In groups you are in. Tag your mom and dad and grandma!–2

A couple dozen GLBTQIA organizations will have the honor to host outreach tables during the Rally and Celebration. If you, or an organization you work with are GLBTQIA-related or are GLBTQIA allies, please respond and let us know that you would like to reserve space. We make the effort to supply most of the tables and access to electricity, but it helps if you have your own table too. We’ll respond to your inquiry with full details!

Donations do not affect your chance to be selected! Queerbomb is free to all. If you donate, you are encouraged to do so anonymously.

We need a dozen beatiful humans representing aspects of the GLBTQIA communities to get behind the mic and give the crowd something to feel proud about! Whether you represent an established organization, are an artist, author, entertainer, or just want to turn words into power, tell us now and we’ll consider you for our list of honored guests!

Please suggest speakers to us! We’re overwhelmed with everything and you’re our best resource to get us in touch with this year’s movers and shakers!

Even if you can’t come to our bi-weekly meetings, we need your warm bodies to help out in lots of other ways! Options we’re looking at include selling Queerbomb merchandise to raise funds, postering, graphic design, and the event itself. If you’re keen to help set-up the rally and/or break it down that night, staff the entryway, or gopher throughout the day, boy do we have some fun work for you! Volunteers get free admission too! Obviously! 😀

We’re excited to have your performance troupe, marching band, social organization or other group co-ordinate with us to make the street Procession unforgettable! We also need volunteer “Marshas” to wear a sash and marshall folks to keep things moving safely. In case you’re wondering, we DO NOT impose a dress code! You only need to keep your attire street-legal, as APD will be out in numbers to clear the way for us. There will be no floats, but you can hire a pedicab to ride the loop. Decorate that any way you wish!

We are working to find food vendors to keep our hungry crowd satisfied! This is partly out of our hands, since candidates need Fair Market’s approval. Please get back to us ASAP, and we will give you a shot at it. We request that vendors donate at least a portion of their revenue to Queerbomb. We will actually still be in debt until we get our vendor contributions after the event! Alcohol service has already been chosen. Please let us know if your licensed, GLBTQIA-owned, or friendly business would like to be considered for 2018.

Again, donations do not affect your chance to be selected! Queerbomb is free to all. If you donate, you are encouraged to do so anonymously.
